What do you do with your expired debit/credit cards - keep/collect or shred/destroy/cut?

Destroy them by cutting into many pieces0

I destroy them by cutting it off into 4 pieces and then throwing them away at different locations. There is no purpose of keeping them.
I would like to know what happens if you purchase train tickets with a card, it goes out of date, would you use the old or new card to collect the tickets? Same with refunds, though with refunds I think you can use the new card.0 -
We have a woodburning stove which deals with them very effectively lol.0

If the old card hasn't expired yet I make sure I destroy it so it cannot be reassembled and used again. If it's expired then it can't be used anyway so I'll just cut it in half ensuring I cut through the chip and throw it out. If the account has been closed I do seem to collect them. I must get around to destroying them some time.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

As long as you save the collection reference I've been told you can use any bank card to collect the tickets0 -

You just need to use a card with a magnetic stripe, It doesnt have to be the card you paid on, I have used whatever card comes out of my purse first. it works even with store cards.
you just need the collection reference to actually get the ticket.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Cool. I've seen at some stations the collection reference wasn't enough, you needed to put the card in first. I'm not sure why it would be different for different stations though.0
