I noticed a lot of positive comments on OVO, I have not found them to be that way, they said it would be £42 per month for electricity, but shortly after I noticed we were paying £160 month.
Sent them a hand written letter but got no reply.
Can you post ACTUAL meter readings for the last 12 months and details of tariff please?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

How were you paying?
Normally it is by Direct Debit, which is fully covered by the terms of the DD Guarantee, so there should be no surprises like that you imply.
All suppliers have a comprehensive complaint procedure you should follow in case of cause for complaint (including what happens if they fail to respond)0 -
I think a bit more information is required.
1 - did you estimate your consumption or did you let OVO do it.
2 - have you checked your bills against the meter to see if you are using more or less than the estimate (in kwh not money).
3 - How much are you using in kwh per month.
4 - what tariff are you on
5 - Are you giving them meter readings or have you got a smart meter.
6 - are your bills estimated or actuals
7 - if your bills are estimated are you sending in meter readings to get them corrected
If the initial estimate was too low and you haven't been checking your consumption then you'll quickly ramp up a big deficit which they will try to recover by increasing your direct debit.
A fixed tariff doesn't mean that you can have as much energy as you like for a fixed cost. It means that the price of the units are fixed and you pay for as many as you use. So if you use more than the initial estimate, you'll have to pay more.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Having been a customer of Ovo in the past, no energy supplier could do more to encourage its customers to provide actual monthly meter readings. It provides monthly billing as a norm, and fortnightly billing if customers select Statements on Demand. It also sends out monthly e-mail reminders.
As others have said, monthly DD payments are nothing more than payments made on account. A credit/debit balance is only accurate on the day that a bill is produced PROVIDED it is based on actual meter readings. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I am not impressed by this company either, were you told about the deposit?
I have been emailing them and they reply, might be quicker for you than writing0 -

What deposit? In my experience, when a supplier asks for a deposit it is based on a credit check. Like many small suppliers, Ovo asks for the first DD amount to be paid in advance. I have found ovo customer service to be quite weak, and they constantly seem to try and increase my DDR to an overly high level, hence I am in a large credit at present, but found I can generally manage most things online pretty easily.
They are cheap though, which is a big plus point0 -

I don't understand your second sentence - what do they say in their reply? and "might be quicker for you"Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
