Weird one Id swear it was out of badness but cats dont do that kind of thing.:p
Cat was previously a flat cat and 6 years ago moved into a house, he is allowed out in the secure back garden. Since being allowed out he uses the garden to pee and poo but still has access to a clean litter in the house.
Since becoming an outdoor toileter he has started to pee vertically so changed litter box to a tall one.
The problem is in the morning he gets too excited (or impatient) to get out and runs ahead of me stops and sprays on something as if to say "follow me this way to get out!" This morning I was just putting on my dressing gown when he sprayed against the chest of drawers. He had not been agitating to get out, he just sprayed.
The Internet says spraying is stress related but this seems more impatience than stress literally 5 mins before todays episode he was curled up in bed asleep.
Is this a situation Feliway could help? He has been doing this on and off for a year and has seen the vet receiving a clean bill of health.
Thanks in advance for any ideas of help!

It could be worth getting him checked out by a vet. One of mine started doing this some years ago due to stress related cystitis. We couldn't imagine why he was stressed but different food and increasing the amount of water he gets solved the problem although he still sprays outside regularly to mark his territory (the twice daily patrol). The high point was when he sprayed both me and my husband to mark us as his possessions, neither of us were that flattered!0
