Good on you! I'm glad for you that you found your courage and didn't give her a - well, you said second, but add onto that the chances you already gave her for the jobs she botched and you had to redo - chance.

I hope she leaves you alone and doesn't come in causing trouble for your staff and demanding her job back.

I was thinking of her "I'm worth £10 an hour" claim, and realising I don't earn £10 a hour in the business for most of the year. I don't mind, but there must be quite a few businesses these days whose owners don't make £10 an hour all year around.

I wish people would realise though that they don't arrive in a shop like yours that somehow magically appeared, established, in a ready to go state. If your ex-seamstress is worth £10 an hour, then you surely must be!

If I paid myself £10 an hour it would be happy days!
    But we will see.
It's looking like I might be able to sustain £75 a week. It's a start

For an old girl she looks really swish..... It is the eye to detail that you give. The quality of the fabric is lovely the black matching eyelets and the care that has been taken in making them. I wish I had half of your talent. Thank you x

DGD is home, and now out playing with the new neighbours.
The sun is shining, the chandelier (plastic but heyho), is up in the front room. The new towel rails and shelves I bought are in the bathroom.
The lawn is cut, carrots and parsnips have gone into the garden, ( bit late but never mind).
Five new lavender plants also dotted about the garden.
I got a very quick cuddle with DGS5.
The washing is just about to go on the line and I can then sit and chill in the garden for a little bit.
Have a read of my latest post.
Investment Times! ( don't remember signing up for it, but I must have as that's been the thing I want to learn about. Not just buying Silver Coins for the future and the grandchildren a birthdays.

    Here comes DGD.
It's lovely to see her have a little friend to play with. Mind you I bet the room won't be very tidy after they finish.

I had bad dreams last night about the seamstress, and staff. She is going to work her notice on Tuesday, sorting out the dress that she had started. I will be working beside her, staff won't be in.
But then I will assess the types of jobs coming in, and decide on what type of work I want to continue with.
Maybe the curtains etc, and stay away from Weddings and Proms in the future, or at least limit it to only minor works.
    We will see.
I'm not looking forward to the next few days, but know life will change afterwards.
Tomorrow The Post Adoption Team person is coming at 9am to means test my finances, as they try to reduce what they pay me on DGD's allowance. So I will expect another large dip in my income very soon.
On Tuesday its working with Seamstress one last time, not looking forward to her waffle, but do know if she concerntrates then the dress will be finished and it is the most complicated one we have in to do.
After that I know I have the skills for the other jobs we have on the books, and I won't take any more rebuild type jobs at the moment.
On Wednesday the builders return to plaster the kitchen ceiling and install the extractor fan. I wonder which will happen first? Very much like the chicken and the egg!
After that I hope we can get on with life, sort out our new routines at home and work, and as long as I find my positive mojo back I'm hopeful, that things will calm down for a while.

I realise that I was originally just going to pay her off, but my friend pointed out that I shouldn't give her money for nothing, and also she did apologise and offer to finish the jobs she had started. So I did think about it then I did accept her offer to finish the ones started, and I offered to either take them to her home, is she could use my machines ( only Tuesday as staff is in Wednesday.
I can cope for that one day, and must admit that she is good at some things, and has more experience of certain jobs. ( although general work she is not quite so skilled at). I will do the jacket sleeves.
