  • Thanks for the suggestions! I signed up for SB last night after seeing it mentioned in some of the forums. Not sure what I think of it so far but it might be ok for killing time on the bus :) will check out the others too
  • Hmm now on the one hand I want a no spend day and on the other hand there's chocolate...

  • Resisted the chocolate and spent nothing at all yesterday! Nearly caved but when I saw the balance on my smartcard at work was a nice round £1 I just couldn't ruin it haha.

Today won't be so frugal. Weekly bus ticket needed and lunch. £1 budget for lunch, then.

Good news is I got my new bank account number and pin in the post this morning. Just need the card now. Not sure if I'll transfer the money to my overdraft or just use it to pay deposit/rent in cash in a couple of weeks. Save a wee bit of interest if I transfer now, I suppose. Feel like the plans coming together

Pay day tomorrow! End of the month total balance: -3080
Don't expect it to be any better next month as moving costs will cancel out anything I manage to pay off, but hey ho. Nice to know exactly where I'm starting from.

Aiming for another no spend day today

Haven't seen my overdraft above -1000 in years. Feels weird. And not entirely good, what the heck? Anyway this months goal is to spend on credit whenever possible, and leave the overdraft alone.

In other news, moving day has been postponed a few days. Was looking forward to having time to breathe between getting and returning keys. And it means I need to rearrange my holidays at work. And bf needs to change the van booking. Bah. Letting agents are the worst :(

Would love a day in bed and another no spend day, but off to the hairdressers. Then set up online banking on new account and transfer money. Try not to think about what -500 looks like. Too scary.

Yowzers the temptation to spend money is strong today. Yes please I'll have a greggs, and some new clothes, and some pretty stationery I probably won't use. And one of those, and those....

Maybe I'll pop into the bank and lower my OD limit to 1k

Ooh that place sells coffee. Urge to spend - rising!

Get it together, you can get a free coffee at the hairdressers.

    HAIRCUT. BANK. THEN HOME.

Edit: on second thought. 1.5k limit. Need cash this month for deposits and stuff! Whoops.
  • Having a productive little day.

I've applied for an overdraft reduction on my old account. Hopefully they'll accept in a couple of days (do they ever reject reductions?

New bank card arrived. Logged into online banking - which turned out to be already set up - and transferred money to overdraft (account balance now above -500 eek!)

Want to start sorting the piles of random paperwork today as well. Needs doing before moving and I need evidence for a tv licence refund. Apparently proving I moved into a new place isn't enough to prove I moved out of the old one! Hoping I have a final bill lying around somewhere (from 2014!)

Feel like I'm posting excessively but it's keeping me motivated so I guess that's ok lol.

Good job getting the overdraft down, its great to see the numbers getting smaller isn't it.

I was in your position until not long ago, still living in an overdraft I started as a student many years later, so I can sympathise. Best of luck, I'll be following your progress.
    My credit card: £148.07/£694.91 (21%)
    Partner's credit card: £0/£602.03

    Loan from partner's mum: £800/£2,400 (33%)
    Loan from partner's dad: £10,000/£10,000 (100%)

    Personal loan: £3,000/£3,000 (100%)
  • Thanks Shahni! :)
