Manchester Credit Union online

I recently opened an account with the above as I wanted an ethical savings account but am struggling with their online members area and just wondered if anyone else finds the same or is it just me. It seems to take days to update, even when I pay in by cash, and now for days I've just been getting 'web page is not available'. Tried on phone, laptop, away from home, different days/times. Nothing. Presumably when they are back in the office it will be sorted but really do want to be sure the most recent payment is showing. I paid it in at the post office in cash a couple of days before Xmas.
I suppose I'm so used to being able to see my bank accounts in as real time as possible, and certainly cash deposits would show immediately - I can't help feeling a bit twitchy. Not about the CU, but more about the system they have contracted to run their online area.
If anyone else also has an account with them, would you mind checking to see if you can access the members area?
Thanks
Eliza

i don't have an account with Manchester Credit Union, but i am a member of two other Credit Unions. one has limited online access, and the other has none at all. i don't think you should expect too much by way of technology from a credit union to be honest.0

There is a government funded Credit Union Expansion Project run by ABCUL which has signed up to an online banking platform, which is (or will be) available. However, a number of credit unions, including Manchester, believe that the new platform is too expensive, and aren't interested.0 -
What is ethical about not giving you your money?0

Thanks for these responses. Interesting to hear about the ABCUL projects.
While I don't expect or need a full range of banking technologies I do expect that what they offer should be available at all times If I had wanted to transfer my money out to do some shopping in the sales I wouldn't have been able to over the last few days. Nowhere should advertise a service they cant deliver. I may look around for another if this becomes a regular thing.
Thanks again

You didn't mention how much money is involved, or what your ethical criteria are, but how about putting your money into a TSB Plus account, and may be their associated monthly saver? They offer decent service, pay superb interest, and don't restrict access to your funds.0

i wasn't aware of that antrobus.. one of the ones i am a member of take payment in by DD. and i get a text every month (i think) to give me my balance. the other one is only accessed by going into the main office, or to visit one of the places that the staff visit each week.. they aren't slick, modern organisations with technology, but they are helping people and it is nice to support them.
as colsten says, TSB seems a decent option purely for cash returns.0 -
ABCUL use a stripped back clone of the Co-Op banking system, at least they did up to a couple of years ago. when I left the latter.Ethical moneysaver0
