in Credit cards
Just out of curiosity, as I'm not currently looking to do a balance or money transfer....
My new offers have appeared on my Barclaycard account for January - 0% balance transfer until 04/17, same for money transfer.
However the amount they are saying "available to transfer" is £1000 which is less than half of my credit available on the card.
Any reason why they don't want me to utilise the whole credit limit?
Possible reasons I've come up with:
- Currently carrying two 0% balances on the card
- Haven't used the card for purchases at all, just for paying off the 0% BTs so apart from fees, they haven't made any money off me yet
(The APR apart from the BTs is 20%+ so I'd be insane to do this)
Alternatively, one of my BT offers is due to end 1st Feb 16 (£1600 balance). I'm actually going to pay it off in full at the end of January as have budgeted for this (just collecting interest on it in my bank acct as long as possible), but of course, Barclaycard don't know this so perhaps they're trying to keep my balance low in view of the interest charges that (they think) will now begin accumulating?
Just a curiosity query. Once the card is cleared, wouldn't mind using it again to buy house renovation stuff but only on a 0% offer.

Barclaycard have calculated your remaining credit on your account less any fees so this is what you have available, in my case I have a 1200 limit and have 1080 I can transfer.
Or they are limiting your credit for these deals. But as your carrying BT already more like my first suggestion.

Thanks, John, but don't think that is it - e.g. I have a 5500 credit limit and am carrying a 3000 balance on a 0% offer. So I have 2500 'available' (minus fees of course) but on my offers, they are saying the maximum I can use is 0-995.
Not bothered, particularly, just wondering why.0
