Hi,
have a quick question please.
I'd like to set up a 'group' with a logo and name to build an identity.
To begin with I'd like to gain popularity on social media but also want to register the .com and co.uk brand names in case it works out well.
So I guess I need to just to register those names for a year or two (depending on the deal) and do nothing till I am ready either to grow and develop a website (hopefully) or drop the names if nothing comes of it.
Is go daddy and 123reg a safe bet?
Would it be worth while / costly to just have a blank home page redirecting to social media and with the logo - brand name on it?
Anything else I should know or think about?
Thanks

Yes, always register domain names if you think you might need them and can afford it. 123reg are ok, personally I would avoid go daddy. I use domain monster because they have a free privacy service. Register them and redirect them to your social media page, that sounds like a good idea until you have a real website. Once you have a website you can buy a hosting package, there are tonnes to chose from.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I use easily to purchase the domains and have hosting with 50webs, I like their package where i can host upto 10 unique websites and many subdomains.
Plenty of threads on here about hosting and buying domains.

thank you very much.
I got all excited and bought two on Godaddy as reviews are good and they have been recommended here before, only bought for 1 year hope is ok, but will remember domain monster for next time, hopefully if I need to renew can I renew with a different company or am I now tied to godaddy?0 -
You can transfer domains away to another host but there may be a fee

godaddy is good.
Just a few lines of HTML and Javascript code can do that. Also you will need to upload the logo to your domain's hosting.0 -
Am working on a logo, finally settled on the name, was an Archimedes moment!
Can anyone advice how much would it be reasonable to spend on a logo. I think my top budget would be £100 as dont know if my plan will be successful or not. Of course I know the more I spend the better skilled person I would get, but have tried PPH and they dont seem to be all they seem. Thanks
Also if I register more domain would it be better to stick to one provider (go daddy) or does it no matter having different providers?0 -
Try freelancer.com0

You can register new domains with anyone you like, you dont need to stick to the same company.
Thats why i like 50 webs, i can have 10 domains hosted on my account and many subdomains.
eg.. you can have mysite.com where everyone can see it and private.mysite.com where only those you want to allow can have access or to use as a subsection.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
