Google Play Movie Rental - How does it work?

I should like to watch the occasional rented movie, available on Google Play, on my tablet. They currently have a special discount offer for one movie rental only, until 4 Jan 2016. I thought I would take advantage of this but, for the life of me I cannot work out a) what to do to join and b) how to claim the discount.

I looked up movie rental on Google play on the internet and it took me to a link on how to install apps but I was none the wiser about the ts and cs for movie rental for a tablet.

Can someone talk me through it?

register a google account if you don't have one, or sign in to one, as you mention a tablet, have you got an android tablet? have a google account registered?

once registered or signed in go to

click continue on the popup, this will apply the discount to your account, which should lead you to this page, that shows 75% off, but the discount is valid on any movie rental

go to the movie store

choose your movie, click the 'rent' button, in the popup you should see a message in red saying 'You can apply your rental reward at the checkout', choose HD or SD, the discount works on both.

on the next page you should be asked to add a payment method, if its a new account or you've never added one.

click rent, and that's it.

you can now watch the film on your laptop / computer / phone / tablet etc stream it to a chromecast / games console / smart tv etc etc

Once you start watching it I believe you have 48 hours to finish watching it.

Simply go to store "rent" the movie you want to watch and on checkout enter any discount codes you have, you then have 48 hours from first stream to watch the movie
