So I've been given some cash for Christmas to buy myself a flash for my DSLR (Canon 60D). My budget is around £130-£150 max, and have been looking at the Canon 270EX ii.
Is this worth the money? Is it good enough for an amateur like myself?
Is there anything better available for cheaper (yet still suitable for an amateur like myself?)
If it helps, I mainly use a Sigma 10-20mm - 1.4f and a Canon 50mm 1.8f on the lens front...
All advice is appreciated!!

I would look for a used 430EX (II ideally) in that range. The 270EX is very weak, so you will not get much more than the onboard flash and the price is not that much less than a 430EX.
A 430EX can go for as little as £175 new, often great condition ones on Ebay for £130ish. Either that or look for used 270EXs to offset as I think they are overpriced new compared to the 430EX IIs functionality.
3rd Party Flashes are getting better though, so the ETTL-II flashes for 50-70 from a 3rd Party might do if you want to save the money and don't use a flash that often and want to experiment. These will have similar functions to a 430EX or 580EX at a 3rd of the cost.
Hope that helps0 -
I'm a nikon user rather than a cannon so doNT know much about the spifics of cannon gear.
But I wouldNT bother with none ajustable flash guns. You want to able to adjust the head angle so you can bounce the flash off walls and celling.
It makes so much of a difference to the quality of your pictures.
