Me and my OH were surprised to discover yesterday, that only 8% of the world's population have blue eyes.

I have green eyes with a few brown specks. Both my parents have/had green eyes too, but my brother has blue eyes as do my 3 kids.

Apparently, blue eyes originated in Turkey.

I know several people with amber eyes.

Amber eye colour is rare, but it is an eye colour.

I can only assume you have never met or seen anyone with this eye colour. Just because you haven't; that doesn't mean it doesn't exist!

That's an interesting fact, I just always assumed for some reason that blue eyes would be the most common!

Mine are blue btw

I heard that too. I heard that blue eyes started off with a genetic mutation 5-10 thousand years ago, and that everyone had brown eyes before then. Not sure how true that is.

Blue eyes are stunning too. Especially when they are bright blue. Best 'genetic mutation' ever.

No I really haven't met anyone with 'amber' eyes. (Light brown?) My granny used to say her mum had violet eyes (also rare, but they do exist)

Well maybe not the MOST common, but certainly more than 8%, like maybe 20%, even 25%. But 8%??!!! So little really!

So it seems kinda obvious when you think about it that blue eyes would be more rare; like natural blonde hair.
