How to sell - As 12 items or as 1

I have a 1993 calendar I bought in Japan back in late 1992

It has languished in a box, but was well wrapped so is in good condition. It basically consists of a dozen looseleaf (ie separate) 5"x9" pages - each is a Wood block printed Japanese themed pictures 4.5/4.5 with the other space taken up with the month and artists name (each Month is a different artist)

Some research indicates a couple of the artists are really quite successful, the others less so.

So if this was yours would you sell as a combined lot of 12 or sell as 12 individual pages. Or is there a better strategy - maybe try together first, but then separately

Perhaps a deciding factor is that the Dec 93 page is slightly crumpled - whereas the others are very good

No hurry - so happy to take my time

Thanks in advance

Have you tried researching what they have previously sold for on Ebay and what is currently listed? If not it may be worth listing a couple of pages separate, then if they do not sell well then list the whole thing in one go. Things come and go in trends and it is amazing what sells and what doesn't. If you can spare some of your free monthly listings then it is worth trying different things to see what works.
  • I would try separately but at the same time. If they are the sort of thing someone may want to frame and display then a buyer might just want one or two so can choose the ones they want. Mention in the listing you have others listed. Would also offer free postage and build it into the price as it can get tricky/complicated with combining postage these days.
  • If the market for these pages is in Japan, then it would make sense to ensure that you have postage options to anywhere in the world.

Myself I would list separately at a BIN/auction price you are happy to sell for. You can always reduce the start/Bin on the next listing freebee.

OK Thank you - excellent points.

My research says that USA is a good market, but a number of the Artists are not showing as any recent history on ebay- a lot seem to turn up at Etsy, but for more significant works, they are are still under $100 so I don't think I have the Mona Lisa here

I will go with individual items, but all listed at once.

Should I offer to end early if someone wants to buy them all?

Maybe its just me but putting the 3rd picture with all the other pages showing maybe an easy claim from a buyer for a not as described claim.

Why put pictures of items not included in that listing? To be that would be risky and not something i would do.

Especially when viewing on a phone where the description is not always accessible.

Aha - I thought it would help drive traffic to the other items. I hadn't thought it could be a problem

I will review and maybe replace the picture with a link to my "other items" page so its clear they are separate

    Thanks

As well as removing the photo showing them all please also remove the line 'The items are on sale elsewhere, and I reserve the right to terminate early ', you are just asking ebay to cancel the sale and give you a slap on the wrist.

If you are selling on ebay then don't try selling elsewhere - you are just going to get in a mess. For instance, what if you get a bid on ebay and then sell it somewhere else? Under the new t and cs assuming you can cancel it in time you will still pay 10% of the bid as FVFs when you cancel, and if you can't cancel in time you will just end up with selling something you haven't got.

Likewise, I think the offer statement is possibly going to cause issues- the 'offer' facility works on the single listing, so if someone makes an offer through the ebay system it will apply to the item they make the offer on- and even if you do manage it (and I have done it in the past where I have had an unlisted item) what happens to any bids already in on the other pages meanwhile?

Also, based on a discussion we have on a different board on MSE- can you check some of your listings (the Cantona book for instance) as if it sells at start price you are going to make a loss.

    Item £3 (with p and p), FVFs 30p, paypal 28p, postage £2.80 = -38p.

You also need to weigh the airplane DVD as well as most DVDs just exceed the 100g limit, so once again with charges and extra postage you could be making a loss.

easier to start at a more realistic price or just charity shop the items.

    Soolin

Thank you so much for taking the time. I am a bit rusty as I gained most of my feedback 5-7 years ago.

I have been out today, but will make the changes to the items as suggested

The book and the DVD were just testers - I am thinking that local car boot might be better - I can wait until summer

EDIT: Changes made - was a bit sloppy - I think much clearer now thanks again to all for your comments
