Item not as described.

I bought a collection only item, paid by paypal and collected. I asked questions about the item and it was described as excellent. After having it for a few days and running tests it appears not to be in excellent condition and will need a considerable amount of money spending on it.
I'm going to contact the buyer and see what their response is. Hopefully we can sort a return and refund. But if that's not possible would I need to contact ebay or paypal for further advice or a possible claim? I wondered if things were different now they're separate companies.
Thanks.

  • I am amazed a seller allowed you to collect and pay by Paypal....

Contact the seller and explain the problem. They should arrange a refund.
  • Normally you'd pay cash on collection and it would be sold as seen (no returns). You should have tried/tested it before taking it away.

However, as you paid via Paypal then you can get a refund.

Contact the seller and see what they say. If you do need to open a case it can be done through ebay or Paypal.

There have been a few instances recently on the community boards where seller has actually won a SNAD claim when item was collected so you may find seller will attempt to defend a claim and although I think you have a better than average chance of winning, I do not believe it is guaranteed.

However, as above, talk to seller before you do anything else.

Hopefully it wasn't a " spares or repairs " item.
