Sunday 27th Dec - what small Debt Free Wannabe things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Thanks for the start La E and good morning

Today we are off to the in laws for a few days. Hoping it will be ok as we have the new one with us and any change in routine can be 'interesting' but it will be lovely to see them and get out of the smoke for a bit.
Because we are going away I will go through the fridge this morning and freeze anything that may be useful for leftovers. I need to slice and freeze the 2 fresh bread loaves or they'll go stale. Made stock with the turkey carcass last night so that can all be frozen. Have a large tub of meat leftovers.
I'm going to pack sandwiches, crisps and sweets for the car journey. We will need to stop somewhere on route though to do a feed so will probably end up buying a coffee.
All for now as I have a lot of packing to do between now and leaving.

Thanks Radison :T I agree, you lot are all lovely :j
Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days but I have read but kept t'interweb down to a minimum
hope everyone is ok. CCL - so thrilled you had a much better Christmas than you were thinking and DH could come home. Long may his recovery be good.
We're off to family today so no food spends and we don't have excess at all (well apart from cheese but we can use that in cooking)
I even had to cook some sprouts and carrots yesterday so we could have bubble and squeak
I have bought a few gifts online in the sale, will come from pressie fund though
I was given a 'knit a tea cosy' kit for Christmas - which I started last night. I've not knitted for at least 20 years. I think I've found some thing :T:T. It was very therapeutic:) will keep you posted.
Will also go for a run today before we go out (even managed one on Christmas Day :A) and restarted my washing pile last night on cheap leccy. Have a great day everyone

Morning all

Thanks for the start La E, and have a safe journey
Well, only OH, brother and myself here now, so it is operation clean up here today, after having a houseful of people over the last 2 days, and also operation use up  I will be doing the same as Bob, freezing what can't be used over the next couple of days. I will need to reorganise the freezers first though
Hens fed, lots of leftovers from yesterday for them (I swear they look forward to this after visits from small children :rotfl:). 1 egg collected
Dog walks if it ever stops raining (small mutt refuses to walk in the rain, and it is a waste of time my going out and getting wet while carrying him inside my coat, right? OH did this while I finished the cleaning
Clean landing and stairs Done
Clean and wash hard floors downstairs Done
Clean bathroom OH did this :A
Tidy conservatory (if that is the right word for the small glass and brick box full of wellies etc at the back of the house
. The term always calls to mind sedate potted palms and rattan furniture :rotfl:Done
Leftovers for meals today, cold meats and salads for dinner with LO jacket potatoes (they are fine if warmed up in the micro
). Plenty of cheeses etc for lunch - to say nothing of mince pies, trifle, Christmas pudding, chocolate cake, gingerbreads etc  Dieting will definitely be on my New Years resolution list! Cheese and salad bits / pickles for lunch, will do supper a bit later
NSD Done :T. There is nothing we need, so we didn't buy anything!
Sort out freezer Hmm, some things need to come out of it before I can get much else in
See what else needs freezing (I have already made a start on this
) Managed to fit in a box of camembert and a pot of hummus, both unopened
I need to freeze some mince pies and gingerbread stars, but this will need to wait till some bread comes out tomorrow.
Wash a load of tea towels etc and dry on airer, as it is pouring with rain outside
Done
Any surveys, FPL etc No surveys today
Sort out postal survey stuff for next week (there is loads
) Done a bit, more tomorrow
Tidied up garden after kids were digging / playing out there yesterday, swept all the gravel off the concrete path
Checked banks - a frugal New Year is definitely needed  I spent far too much on too much food
I am sure there is more, so will pop back and record any additional 'achievements' :rotfl:
Hope you all have a good day

Morning guys :A thanks for starting the thread Bob, have a lovely break at the parentals!
How lovely we got nominated in the awards :A
Not much dfw plans today as we are going out for a family meal, so will be spendy but will be fun :T then I'm working at 6.
In between these things I will:
* put a load of washing on
* put some washing away
* freeze portions of Christmas dinner soup - love having this throughout Jan
* take some soup for tea during my break
* take some activities for dgd at the restaurant to keep her occupied
* text friend about getting together. My schedule is a nightmare what with contact and my different work shifts! How do people with a bigger circle even cope???
Think that's it. Have a great day xDF as at 30/12/16

Thanks LE for the start, hope you & Bob both have a good safe journey on your road trips today.
Dawn Your dog does make me chuckle
positivelypunked a busy list there!
jonno7 oooo forgot about bubble & squeak, haven't had that in years
Radison Its a fab thread I agree, lots of support
Not sure what we are doing today, the kids are currently playing with their presents and we are watching Christmas pointless.
Small things will include the usuals
B/L/D from stores B- shop bought mini pancakes that my sis left here with yogurt & diced apricots, Lunch - pork sausage meat that we didn't use on Xmas day fried with onions, peppers, grated carrot, sweetcorn, mushrooms in a tomato sauce to make a pasta bake, the kids loved it and even dh had it which surprised me as he doesn't usually want pasta so smiles all round. Diinner - will see what needs using next out of the fridge
Check fpl/luckyphone
A load of washing on at 30 degrees
A nsd
I;m sure there will be more but that's it for now.
Have a good day all.0 -
Hi All
Just read your lists, yep, I need to do everything you all need to do, except I have no conservatory!
I also have 6 library books not yet read. I am so behind with my holiday junk reading, need to focus.
DH is so excited that it is only 2 more sleeps til DS and DGS come to visit with dil that he can not get the TV remote to work. I dread the state he will be in on the morning of 29th! Families eh!
Tomorrow if I can convince my buddy it is safe for me to leave library books, I may brave a trip out. I need a loaf of bread and a spin round an over charged coffee place to admire normal people doing their lives. I love looking at the girls with their prams and shopping bags, out with their Mums and Sisters and generally just living. I know they probably have lots of issues, but just that snapshot look at their lives gives me enormous joy. They look like they are having fun. Last year was the season of black leggings, huge enormous prams and fab scarves. I am hoping to see Russian hats, but it is probably too mild and will be the season of the umbrella!
Hope you are all having as much fun. Now I need to study punkeds list again so I know what I should be doing, Oh why am I so lazy?
