Transfers between banks
Comments

My experience is usually that it happens pretty-much instantly when I transfer between two clearing banks.
On the other hand, when I transfer to my Virgin or Tesco accounts, I find it usually takes about 20 minutes. But let's not split hairs; it's pretty quick!
OP, between Barclays and TSB I'd expect a matter of minutes rather than days as your rule of thumb.0 -

It could be a weekend, so is Saturday a working day, and no the date is definitely not backdated when credited to my mortgage account.
Saturday is not a working day in a banking context so won't count in the next working day calculation - a payment sent on Friday has until end of day Monday (assuming Monday isn't a holiday, which of course today is) to be posted. Although some banks will post transactions with a Saturday date just to confuse things a little.
It's unusual to make regular mortgage payments by FPS, most providers would expect to have a DD in place, so if your payments are occasional ones then that may take a little longer to get to the right place.0
