I was given a Fire HD6 for Christmas and am wondering do these devices need to have an internet security program installed?

I have a spare license for Kaspersky internet security that I recently purchased, but how do I go about getting it onto the tablet? It is a CD and I am a technophobe:(

The Kaspersky license you have may be just for windows computers or mac computers, and not for tablets, you need to check the terms.

You have an Amazon Fire HD6 right? You need to understand how IT security problems happen. You don't really need to do anything other than educate yourself on usage of the internet. Your Kindle Fire device runs on a special Amazon version of the Android operating system. Most people that produce viruses and malicous code make it work on Windows operating systems, but there are now more and more viruses and malware (MALevolent softWARE) that are made to run on android as well. However, if you keep your device up to date it should normally protect you from internet based threats, this is unless you choose to browse websites of a dubious nature, in which case, you really should have some expertise before doing so. AV (anti-virus) companies will continually try to sell you products that you don't need and are generally redundant because in fact what they sell cannot protect against new malware.

Thank you for the very informative reply. I have just checked the license and it is definitely for five devices (which can comprise desktop, laptop, android or phone). I currently have it installed on my desktop.

However, I am not sure about the Windows OS only thing that you mention, I didn't realize that Amazon have their own OS:o I sort of assumed that Kaspersky could just be put onto any device, but obviously not.

  • Kaspersky does not exist in the app store on my fire HD 6 and also I found this today

    http://support.kaspersky.com/us/10265

    It says

You can install Kaspersky Tablet Security to Kindle Fire (HD) or Nook HD/HD+ following the instructions.

Pay attention that the Web Protection component is unavailable in Kaspersky Tablet Security on Kindle Fire (HD) or Nook HD/HD+.

Thanks for the information, so it doesn't look as if I can just install KIS 2015 using my additional license:(
