Hi Funbrum. Yes the farm next door were having about 200 of theirs scanned, so we took ours along too. They give you numbers but not gender, don't know what colour to knit! Very excited, also waiting for the geese to lay, for goslings and have 23 hens eggs in the incubator. Pigs might by pregnant too! Busy time coming up. M2m.

Wow M2M, sounds like a super busy time coming up for you guys

I'm nearing payday and need to get side light bulbs for my car ready for it's MOT which I need to book in.

Weather was good with us this weekend, though quite chilly. Managed to deweed the front garden which feels good, though the hoe handle snapped at first use, lol... Luckily it had a fairly long metal section left behind so could still use it crouching down.

Also got the house hoovered through, bathroom cleaned, some of the decorating stuff put out of the way and food shopping done

Meeting a friend for lunch today that I haven't seen for ages which will be lovely. Am budgetting a max of £10 (London prices) for it and hoping to get nicely under and definately not over

  • Am needing help please. I read this every day although as an old person, on her own, I only really need to shop once a month, if that, other than milk. I have been put on diet ready for an operation and have been TOLD I have to eat much more fruit and veg. Have stocked up with fresh and frozen but although have not been bad with veg, just do not really bother with fruit so need quick/easy and cheap fruity meals/recipes. Never made a smoothy and do not have yogurt/honey/orange juice normally. Do not wish to go to shops as I always buy when I do not really need. Weak willed. Hope you will be able to help me. Thanks.

Hi whmf, fruit will keep a long while if you put it in the fridge. Have nectarines in ours from 3weeks ago and a few grapes left from the beginning of January. I find if I put fruit ready to eat there, cut up, peeled, etc, I keep munching it through the day. What about fruit added to cereal? Or fruit salad? Crumble, make up the crumble mix in a quantity, freeze it, then you can make a crumble in seconds. Hope this helps, M2m.

Hi funbrum, yes it is idyllic, but we have no money. The heating, on a really good day, heats the kitchen to 16°c, the rest of the house is much colder. The nearest supermarket or any shop really is 8 miles away. Taking DD4 to her friend's house is a 45minute round trip. We still don't have any carpets, the whole house needs decorating, and we regularly catch mice in the kitchen and the pantry. But I would not go back to the city life we had previously for anything. M2m.

mumtoomany...it still sounds lovely. I don't mind not having the up-to-the-minute gadgets, or sumptuous furniture or even having to walk miles,(I gave up my car 2 years ago). However I only have myself to think of and I'm very happy living a simple, less fussy life. It's probably harder for you but just think of the blessings you have around you, living and raising children in such a wonderful environment! :)

Another NSD today. I'm going back home tonight, after my house-sitting. I always look forward to my own bed, but will miss the Wi-Fi on tap, and Sky, although I didn't really watch anything as I was engrossed in watching Dave Ramsey, financial guru,on YouTube!
I'm looking at more ways of finding extra cash to fulfil some future goals I have.;):D

Tomorrow I must sort out my pots for planting, and get a few seeds sown, so I may end up buying potting compost, it depended on what I've got in the shed. :D
