  • Hellooo,
I have dipped in & out over the last year, tho not posting often..:(
Your advice, helpful tips/ideas and general caring attitude makes things a lot lighter and easier to deal with!
I need to get on board this year as major changes will be ahead for myself & 2 DS..
So, I shall be going through my finances with a magnifying glass & seeing what I can do to make things more manageable for us all!

Am currently recovering from a horrendous virus over Christmas, having pernicious anemia makes it harder to recover, had fab care from my boys, very glad of it too! (Did laugh as "Downton" made reference to it in it's finale.. glad it's manageable nowadays tho!!)

Good luck to all Frugaling in 2016!! :T:heartsmil:rudolf:

  • Hi all, yep count me in again for 2016, same as mooloo and frugal life I only nipt in and out..2016 is def the year where we got to stretch every penny...and produce and grow as much food as we can!!

We need 1 double bed and 2 4ft beds, as we are moving into our smallholding soon. And I thought I could pick some up cheap in the sales!! Was I shocked at the prices, even sale prices are stupidly high. But then on saying that I have never bought a bed, even our boys which are 21 and 19 had beds given to them, as someone was doing their kids rooms up..so going to ask on fb.. For bed frames..
Work to live= not live to work
  • Please count me in! I hope to be debt free by the end of September 2016. I'm not sure of our exact debt total yet as I'm waiting for all banks to update the online totals on Tuesday. I'll then switch the balances to an interest free card and then start the slog of paying off the debt :-)

Count me in please. My first challenge will be to meal plan to use up the mountains of food we have in our freezers and cupboards, rather than continually buying more and topping them up :o

I will also avoid spending on clothes, as I have enough, and grow as much food as I can in my little garden :)
  • Can I join please?

  • Please can I join? I have been eagerly awaiting the 2016 thread.
My budget is £500 per month so £6000 for the year - this needs to cover groceries, household goods, clothing (maximum of £800 including shoes), and pet supplies. Any left over money will be going towards family camping trips over the summer.

Debt repayments at an affordable level are already in my budget, so when I pay off one debt I will put the same amount of money onto a different one, keeping my repayments the same unless my income increases.

    Can't wait to get started!
  • My first act of Frugalness.

I ordered my best friend a CD for Christmas but it didn't come in time.

So I was going to order it again via Amazon and get it sent to her.

But that would cost 10 pounds and leave me with a CD I don't especially want.

Instead I will post it to her along with a few bits and proper card - hopefully it won't cost ten pounds(!) and I will have saved some money.

I read through some of the previous threads - I have signed up so often and not stuck it out. I could tell particularly in one post it was a time when work was getting me down. I know once term starts work will suck me in. However I am hoping to change jobs so maybe that will mean I am more focused on my family and friends. Also I am no longer working two jobs. so do have a more reasonable hours now.

    Nevertheless she persisted.

This is my first frugal challenge Thankyou Frugaldom for posting this , I hope to get rid of my debt this year

My budget will be £6000 for the year . We won't have anything above that as it is going on debt repayment . Once that's done then we can start saving

I'm hoping to keep well below £500 for the month of Jan as we have so much food still . Today I'm going to go through the fridge and sort it all out freeze , cook what I can and meal plan .

Hi all, please count me in for this year. Having had to buy a new freezer in November and finding the fridge has now died, I need to tighten, my already tightened, belt! Since I was last on here we have moved to south Wales. We are sharing a house with our eldest daughter, her husband and their baby son. Youngest daughter still lives at home too.

So the budget for next year.
Household bills: £2200 (this is for half the bills, DD1 and DSiL1 pay other half.)
Food and other groceries: £2000 (DD1 and DSiL1 pay another £1440 plus they buy any food for when they are working, both stay away when at work)
Money for DD4: £2000 (this includes pocket money, Birthday and Christmas presents, clothes and singing lessons, she is home schooled so also money to attend the weekly group)
Car expenses £1000: Diesel, insurance, MOT, repairs etc.
    Everything else! :£800.

This is a grand total of £8000. It does not include any smallholding costs such as animal feed etc.

Don't know if I will manage it, but writing it on here means I will try.

Good luck all, here's to a frugal new year, Mumtoomany.
