Hi guys
Just chatting to my parents, and they happened to tell me they had been paying PPI for their mortgage 5 years after it ended, my dad thought he had cancelled when mortgage finished, but cannot remember. Is there any way they can get the payments back that they have been paying into it?
Thanks

He could ask the bank if they have any record of him cancelling it.. Is there any way they can get the payments back that they have been paying into it?
If it is specifically a mortgage PPI then insurers will often consider a refund of overpayment request. Especially if its on own brand lending (e.g. a bank product which would only require that particular bank's lending). Evidence is usually required. Such as closing letter from bank.
If it is a standalone PPI that is income based then it would not be tied to a mortgage and doesnt require a mortgage to exist. So, no reason to refund.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
