Why do so many toasters not do as they are supposed to do ?

I've never seen a product such as the toaster that are sold all over the place, but the vast majority don't do exactly as they are designed to do ..
They don't toast the whole slice of bread.
You either have to cut the top and bottom off the bread to make it work, or live with toast in the middle and plain bread at the end. A toaster we bought our daughter is like this
We have a long slot toaster which we can use to toast 2 slices at a time.
Which 4 slice model has the longest slots please ? Does anybody know ?

If not, it appears you have posted your query on the wrong board. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I have the four slice version(yet to be tested),but it has good reviews and comes with a voucher for 50p off Warburton's bread.
It cost me nothing, as it was on offer at Tesco and was bought when they last had a double up on Reward points.0 -

Give it time.
When the daughter throws the toaster on the floor in frustration, and Currys/Argos/John Lewis refuse to refund, the OP will be back to ascertain their rights
