Holiday with baby

I'm expecting a baby in January, and I am hoping we'll get chance for a holiday before I go back to work. Baby will be 4 - 8 months old when we travel.
Think short break (4ish nights) so probably somewhere in Europe. We like city breaks - have done Rome, Moscow, Paris, New York, Venice, Cairo. Also like far flung destinations such as Thailand, Vietnam etc but obviously not for 4 days.
Needs to be clean but cheap and baby friendly.
Any suggestions?
Not keen on resorts or sitting round the pool/ beacj - have done Costa del Sol and Sharm and Malta but all were scuba diving holidays, and we won't be doing that with a baby!

I would say Prague or Amsterdam would fit what you are looking for, with Prague being far cheaper.0

At that age they are very portable - Far easier to travel with than a toddler.
A city that gives you sightseeing and beach might be nice -possibly Barcelona .
Without knowing what you liked about the other cities you visited though it's hard to suggest . If culture is important, or eating out, etcI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

That's right. With a decent buggy/pram you could have a sightseeing holiday, push baby everywhere or carry in sling. Warm countries seem to find taking children out in the evening far more acceptable so baby sleeping (hopefully;)) in pram while you eat and drink at open air restaurant.
I recently (October) had a great sightseeing holiday in Malta. Maybe you've not seen that side of it? I could spend 4 days in Valetta alone. Verona is worth considering, interesting in itself for Romeo & Juliet connection but in easy travel (public transport) distance of Lake Garda or even Venice.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions.
duchy - I like culture and eating out, architecture, museums and art galleries. Did the usual touristy things in Paris and Rome and Moscow. Have been to Amsterdam, didn't like it, but that may be because it was grey and miserable when we went.
Have also been to Bruge, very pretty, nice restaurants.
What's Prague like language barrier wise? (Moscow was awful - try as we might, Russian - English translation is really hard!).
Barcelona could be good, never been, will take a look. Any recommendations for time of year to go (don't want it too hot with a baby).0 -

If you like galleries then consider Madrid. I'd go sooner rather than later as high summer could be very hot. Prado is famous but we loved the Thyssen-Bornemisza which is set out like a history of art through the ages as you walk through the various rooms.0 -
City break wise, and those which are easy to get around, id recommend :
Madrid, Berlin, Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Paris, Prague, Krakow, Brussels, Dublin (not particularly cheap tho!), Rome, Bergamo, Guernsey, Jersey, Maastricht.....
TBH i could go on - i dont think ive been anywhere that isnt acccessible enough for a baby. Im sure you will have a lovely time wherever you go.£2 Savers Club #156!
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -

I'd aim at April or May for Barcelona or Valencia - warm but not stupid hot for the baby .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Bologna is a lovely city with plenty to see. It's also a train ride from other nice places such as Sienna and Florence.0

Prague - a lot of people speak English, not relevant to yourself as such but I'm on crutches and I managed perfectly well in Prague, so with a pushchair your be find.
I stayed slightly out of town centre - hotel atos - right on a tram route, central to town or up to the castle, there are some good deals out there xxx
Congratulations xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
My baby book recomended going on holiday when the baby was 4-6 months as they are in more of a milk feeding routine by then with longer gaps between but before proper weaning begins, and still content in a pram or carrier. That would also work with going away before it gets too hot in Europe too.
I like culture, sightseeing and restaurant holidays too and would recomend Barcelona. There's the street artists on the Las Ramblas, the amazing Gaudi buildings and cathedral, good restaurants on the harbour, pretty parks, and although I never went there is a beach. Ive previously been to Venice, Rome, Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, New York and enjoyed them all.
Jersey is nice but more for when the child is older, like with the Isle of Wight. I can also recomend France when the child is older as we just had a lovely holiday in Brittany with my toddler. Holidays change once they can run around, get bored, and need entertaining.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
