Chelsea I'm just outside reading, you?

Hi Sue, the estate is comprised of MIL's property, it is for FIL to live in until he dies. Then it is divided up between MIL's children, one of the children is being difficult. FIL could live another 20 years & the solicitors don't want to wait that long or their money.

Sounds similar, if the will is solid then the erring child should pay costs :D

12 years in our case but we had a fight even then

  • AArrrgh, the mortgage company have changed the rules again, I phoned to make a payment of £500, they can't accept it towards reducing the term, they can only reduce the monthly payment!
Cue a conversation through gritted teeth, eventually I managed to drag the information out of them, the payment needs to be £562.09.
Whatever!! I paid the required amount and knocked another month of the term, hooray.

    New Balance £49,126.11

This has puzzled me somewhat, are you not allowed to o/p a % each year without penalties, then at end of fixed rate you can then reduce your term to the amount you can afford to pay monthly.

    eg Mortgage £50,000 can afford to pay £ ??? = ??? years, or ?? years = ??? monthly payment.
I know my mind works in mysterious ways, but I get the result I want using this formula for me.

And not sure if you are with S@nt@nder the spanish bank but i'm sure i read somewhere that they are now allowing o/p of £100 and not the £500 originally stated.

Good Luck on your journey, and as Sue says, either get the erring child to pay fees or at least split amongst all.

  • Another payment this month, £579.80, I still think they change the rules to suit themselves.
The will is still in limbo, the black sheep is refusing to pay, another son refuses to meet as it's upsetting, hey ho at least it made us sort our wills out properly.
    Chin up, Titus out.
