Guarantee periods on a new Xbox One

Hi,
I returned a faulty Xbox One which was still under its 12 months guarantee to GAME and they agreed it was broken and replaced it with a new one. The assistant informed me that the original 12 month guarantee was being used on the new one and I'd have only the 2 months that was left as cover for it. The expiry date of the guarantee is 26th Dec 2015 (today). Are they allowed to do this or should I have been given a new 12 month warranty?
Thanks for any help.

A warranty is in addition to your legal rights so the manufacturer can impose whatever conditions they wish. It is completely usual for the warranty to commence from the original purchase date without an extension in the event of a replacement.
However, you do still have a contract in place with Game which makes them liable to rectify any inherent faults which occur in the first 6 years from purchase.0 -
You might want to check what game have told you about the warranty.
Usually when a console is repaired by xbox, the remaining warranty will be 1 year from date of purchase or 95 days from the date its returned to you - whichever is longer.
But as above, you have statutory rights with the retailer and up to six years to make a claim from them (doesn't necessarily mean goods should last that long though). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
