Hi everyone
Thanks for the kick off Bob :A
Nice to see you back Rising from the ashes
DNMS - 'balloon' was niece's favourite word yesterday
Big hellos to everyone else :hello:
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. (I'm a saddo and excited about next Christmas already because we know exactly how much we spent this year so we can set our YNAB 'goal' for Christmas 2016?!
)
I am at the in laws - came yesterday and realised we'd left a suitcase at home (we're away until 1st Jan!!) - briefly thought about venturing to the boxing day sales to get clothes for new year's eve, but instead went back home this morning to collect it. :T 2.5hr round trip saved us the pain and suffering of shopping. :rotfl:
At home I turned down the thermostat and set the fridge to 'vacation mode'.
Going to the cinema later - will take our own snacks and drinks. :T
Catch up soon everyone

I'm spending a few days with a friend, so no gas, electric or water usage for me
I'm joining some of the challenges on here for the new year. I need a kick up the bum to tackle one or two debts I have. :eek:Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

didn't get any holiday money (yah boo) but will get onto ebay later to catch up with my pile from clearing a junk room earlier in the weekI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -

Hi all,
Had too much to drink last night.
Feel like I've been run over so I'll try and 'cure' it with a run in the rain in a wee bit followed by a hot shower. My bones are on fire. Only myself to blame.
So what's on the list today?
* Missed the second free ParkRun of the week this morning so that's petrol to the event saved.
* Ordered a camera-ma-bob-doo-dah for OH on my card to get rewards and cashback. Yes, another one, OH has saved for yet another thingy. She'll sell an older thingy to pay for most of it.
* Leftovers for lunch.
* Store away my wee gifts.
* Watch some of the DVDs we opened yesterday.
Have a nice day everyone.

I am in the danger zone. Internet is working.
Have forced myself to do work, yes real work, to try to stop myself browsing the sales.
I NEED NOTHING. I think I must be an addict. I can feel myself thinking, just a little look wouldn't do any harm.....would it?
Think I need to ring lots of elderly relatives to thank them for the useful talc etc. That should do it.
I really should be mucking out miserable chickens. Have been very bad and left it all to DH. I think lethargy is down to the heat in the house. It is screamingly hot.
Take care all and fingers crossed we continue to resist.
Just had my shopping fix, moved my Mr T order from monday to tuesday. I am a guru!!!

Me again ..... ohhh another couple of faces I recognise, thanks for the lovely welcome back. I do struggle to get on during the week but must try to keep up at the weekends!
I've had the dog out for a (very) soggy walk - she loved it
. It did highlight that my waterproof trousers are getting very hard up so might have to try to find a pair in the sales somewhere.
YNAB .... mmmm I looked at this several times but just didn't really 'get it'
must have another look though as it's def those smallish spends that there seem to be a lot of that add up - and I'm bad at keeping track of them now.:o
Have a draft budget - it seems a lot so need to have another look
Positives are that I have a lot of dog food (will need 1 bag of kibble but that should be it for several months) and a decent amount for Cat 2. Cat 1 hasn't been well & eating is a nightmare & costing a fortune so need to try to get that under control ASAP (fingers crossed he's started eating his 'old' food the past couple of days)
Just had a lovely snooze with him curled up - not something that I get the chance to do often - but it's vile out so .....
NSD so far! (resisting temptation)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -

Happy boxing day everyone!
Thanks to Bob for starting us off
Ally - did chuckle slightly when you said that your bones were on fire. You do have my sympathies though!
Welcome back RFTA
Well a very hectic and insanely warm Chrsitmas at m-i-l's. Seriously, I think it was about 26 degrees in that house. Thias is not an exaggeration. Now I will admit that my house is on the cool side for most people (probably varies from 16-20 deg) but I had to stand by the open back door yesterday to stop myself from fainting and again this morning. I also slept sans pjs (apologies for the image) and on top of all the covers for the whole night and STILL woke up sweating! Am so happy to be home and cool.
I will confess though that f-i-l gave me the turkey to take home. There was so much meat... but it had been out all night in the hot house. I normally dice with death when it comes to food but I really didn't feel safe after the heat. I'm afraid it went in the bin.
OH and I got home just now and had a massive declutter. I've got rid of a load of jewellery, and some even older make up (first nail polish I ever bought
). About a bin bag of rubbish has gone. OH then KonMari'd all of his clothes. Another bin bag gone (may take to cash4clothes). We then hit the books and dvds. Two bags for life later... well you get the idea
OH now in the bath with one of the books that I got him for Christmas. I will probably hit the crochet
MSE-wise, not much going on, but I'm checking the sales for a new tv unit that we want to put our Christmas money towards. Life is very glam in your thirties
Have a good afternoon/evening all
