supermarkets near A1

Hi

we recently travelled from london to newcastle via M1, we stopped over once at around the 150mile mark problem is the service stations was expensive, subway, coffee, snickers was 85p and diesel was 13p per litre more!

i would like to stay away form serivice station in the future, does anyone know if there is a supermarket close to a A1 junction where i can get off fill up, relax and then continue on, my satnav doesnt have POI locations.

any locations would be very helpful.

thank you in advance

The only ones I can find (from here https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zTSeYcjdy94c.kJetw2n0S9j4&hl=en_US ) are
M1 Junction 33. A630 south and B6533 (first exit off A630) at Catcliffe Morrisons Poplar Way, Poplar Way, Catcliffe S60 5TR
    M1 Junction 46. A6120 Sainsburys 1 Stile Hill Way, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS15 9JB
Half mile from A1(M) Junction 48 at Boroughbridge. Exit motorway east side then take second exit on first roundabout (not A168) then turn left at next one Morrisons, Wetherby Road, Boroughbridge, YO51 9HS

If you're getting off the M1 to head across to the A1 on the M18, there's a Morrison's pretty much on junction 1, to the left.
If you're staying on the M1 until it turns into the A1 the first one is probably another Morrison's on junction 48, Boroughbridge
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Peterborough has a Tesco at Serpentine Green, but it's a couple of miles from the A1 (Junction 17). Kate's Cabin cafe is right on the A1 - just past J17 heading north (petrol station next door).

If this is not far enough along for you, Further north, Downtown Boundary Mills at Grantham is also right on the A1.

As you mention M1 and A1 have a look at the link below which covers both and show which supermarkets, fast food chains and petrol are available close to most junctions. You should check on the planned stops website for opening hours.
Just found if you click on the logo of the shop/petrol station it gives details of opening times etc.

    Just off junction
  • There is a mcdonalds with the sainsbury's, there is also a starbucks, and subway by the travelodge the roundabout before that. This is off the a1 for worksop down the a57. The a57 also links through to the m1 j31 so is a good cut through if wanting to swap from m1 to a1 or vice versa.

Thanks to everyone for the very very hrlpful replies, this link has to be the best ever!

Ive managed to find two junctions on the M1, one being junction 25 and the other 30 that i could use in the future for stop overs.

Tesco Chesterfield Clowne Superstore near Juntion 30 even has a costa cafe.

    Thank you again to all.

great location seems like best place for a good break!
  • My parents always stop at Morrisons in Wetherby when they come from Northumberland to us in Norwich, if you need something a little further north.

When did the A1 become a foreign road?
