Dear Cinabar
I hope that all goes well for you on Monday....I, too, felt relieved when I told my family....I am a single lady and told my brother and sisters and their families......I thought they would be disappointed with me - shocked at me - dare I say possibly disgusted with me. I was petrified of losing my car. I was dreading anybody in the world finding out - especially my landlord as I rent privately. I absolutely did not want work to know......Bankruptcy seemed like my only option but I was dreading it completely.
I can honestly say (and I know this sounds corny) I felt so loved and supported through the whole thing.....All of my fears - losing my car and landlady finding out did not happen. Work had to know because they were not prepared intially to pay my wage into somebody elses account for me temporarily - so I told them the real reason why it was so imperative.....Immediately I was told that it would be done for me...one of my managers even called me offering help and advice with bank accounts because her daughter works in one. It has even seemed as though the OR is on my side as well.
I have felt healthier and calmer than I have in years.....there are no more statements landing on my door mat which I cannot possibly pay and I no longer wake with fear in my stomach each morning.....I do have to watch every last penny in my purse now but I really don`t care....
Cinibar - I am really pleased that you told your parents....I was not going to tell anybody either but I am sooo pleased that I did. My sister came to the court with me - I don`t think that I could have faced it alone (even though it was absolutely fine and there were 10 other (extremely nice) people facing the same thing that morning......You will need the support of your family and I am so glad that you have it...
I hope that things work out with work for you.....I do not know the legalities etc of working for a financial institution whilst insolvent...but a little part of me cannot help but feel that these things are viewed and decided on an individual basis.....(I do not work with finances etc....but i was so worried about what my employers would think and when I had to tell them of bankruptcy because of my bank a/c - I did say, `Will I lose my job?` and was immediately told, `No! Why would you!`
Please let us know how Monday and work go for you.....Take care - wishing you all the very best.0 -
Gratton - good luck to you for Monday as well....I am sure that all will be fine. All the best.0

I agree rog. Double standards.Good luck on Monday, Cinnabar.
With regard to the 'Risk Assessment' I find it strange that the Banking Industry holds such draconian views on bankruptcy, particularily since they, of all people, seem to be quite happy to 'contribute' to the factors that lead to bankruptcy in the first place.
Maybe it will do them good to have someone with first hand knowledge of bankruptcy on board.0 -
good luck with today :beer:i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing0
