Fedex Claiming Delivery But NO DELIVERY !!

Hey all, not been on for a while, managed to dodge the bullets for a while but alas a Christmas present for the good lady has now went walkies, and Fedex are claiming it's been delivered but I've received nothing.

Phoned the main customer service and filed a complaint, they took the details and told me "Tom" the investigator would phone me back within a few hours - still waiting, and I phoned them mid afternoon today. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, the parcel was due from the Netherlands yesterday (22nd) and they claim is was delivered yesterday and have a signature from someone I've never heard of. Thing is, nobody was home yesterday and I figured they would just card me and I'd go pick up the parcel today from my local depot which is literally 5 minutes drive from my house (Eurocentral, just off the M8).

So, no parcel, no card through the door, nothing - yet they are claiming it's been delivered !!. Has anyone any experience with this cowboy outfit and does anyone consider it possible that it may still be delivered and that the delivery driver is just ticking boxes to satisfy the customer and still has the package for delivery?.

Thanks in advance
Mark

  • Have you checked your bin (couriers are notorious in our area for shoving boxes into the bins at the side of the house).

Had a card for one box, went round and noticed a second box that looked like it had been in there a day or so (as OH had added some paper and hadn't noticed). There was no card for that one so no idea when they'd tried to deliver and pure luck I found it before refuse collection!

Or your neighbours? Again, had postie deliver box next door and not put a card through the door (neighbour came round and not to pleased I hadn't collected my parcel...told him I didn't even know there HAD been a parcel...didn't look convinced till 2 weeks later when it happened the other way round and I'd taken in a parcel for him).

Hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow and its sitting at the depot ready to be delivered...fingers crossed anyway. Otherwise, do you have a photo of the item that you can at least show her and that you'll track it down for her after the break? (Or an emergency item so she has something to open..).
  • Hi and thanks for the reply, yes, checked bins, etc but they are actually claiming the package was delivered to my address and someone signed for it, something which I know is impossible because as I say, nobody was at home on that day and time so the driver is definitely at it so to speak.

I doubt the package will come today because the more I think about it, why would it when apparently it's already been signed for, I doubt the driver is going to put themselves in the frame like that cause if they have claimed delivery and faked a signature, or delivered it to a completely wrong address, its unlikely anything is going to arrive but I've since spoken to the seller and they are arranging for a replacement and they can take it up with the courier.

The annoying thing is, its a personalised social book for my wife, so its absolutely no use to anyone else, and yes I do have a few things for her on Christmas day so its not a total disaster, but just really annoying being a former delivery driver myself I would never have stooped so low to do anything like this to anyone at anytime, let alone at Christmas!!.

Anyways, fingers crossed the replacement comes soon, and Merry Christmas to you all :)

  • The seller is obliged to provide a P.O.D. (Proof of Delivery), in the case of a delivery dispute if the contract provides for them to deliver to an address of your choosing.

So their courier has a signature.
It is not recognised/accepted by you and could easily have been Fred-walking-down-the-High-Street.
You should pursue a claim of non-delivery/receipt.

    Two things you might wish to be aware of for this;

    1) You may find the compensation, if you have no insurance, is inadequate.
From memory I believe the amount of compensation (at least under international agreement) is limited to a max of $20.00 per kg.
I haven't been in this game for a while, so this may have all changed.

    2) The courier (and/or their insurer) may activate a 'watch' list, to keep track of addresses which claim non-receipt or similar incidents.
You could find your address on this list.
In and of itself, under 'normal circumstances' that shouldn't be a problem for you.
Unless the incident is repeated a suspicious number of times, in which case you could find yourself of interest to the Police and having to explain the circumstances of a number of such claims.
This is a normal process for insurers when suspicions over the legitimacy of a claim or claims are aroused.
It shouldn't dissuade you from claiming (assuming no nefarious intent).

Thanks for the reply - would you believe it was actually posted through my door on the afternoon of the 24th?!!!. No signature, no note, nothing - just the package, which thankfully came before xmas but I was correct in my assumption that the drivers are doing this to claim their quoto and for the companies to assure the senders that the packages which are due to be delivered by a certain date are delivered, when in fact they are not, they are kept on the drivers van or banded around the distribution depot until they can either be bothered to deliver them or they have the time to deliver them.

I filed a complaint with Fedex and heard nothing back from them until the week between xmas and New Year, they asked for me to phone them back but I didn't bother, I know the outcome will be a long drawn out one and I have the book now anyway so all's good - just means in future I won't willingly use this company again if I know goods are being sent by them :)
