Buyer claiming item not received?

Hi. Sent a New Cordless phone in post & got proof of postage. A week on buyer says not received. I'm concerned because he's got 5 negative reviews this year.

Item was sent normal delivery, with proof of postage, Is that actually worth anything or not?

What happens if buyer insists that no item is received? I only sell a few items a year when having a house clear out so not a regular ebayer, hence not up to speed with how things work.

Firstly, don't pay too much attention to the negs- they are related to him selling not buying, it just shows he is a bad seller.

Proof of posting enables you to claim up to £20 total from Royal Mail, but you can't claim until after 15 working days has elapsed, however if buyer goes to a case you will have to refund before then.

Post is quite slow at this time of year so firstly assuming a case isn't open, ask buyer to wait a little longer. If you feel buyer is being dishonest then get them to open an INR case before you refund.

It might have proved delivery, but even that's not 100% guaranteed with Signed For (Recorded).

Have a look at the sticky postage thread it explains all about seller protection and postage options.

Recorded no longer exists, the service is now 'signed for' and is untracked and in many areas never shows as signed for. However , it does give £50 of cover against standard mail which gives only £20.
