NCD over two years old

A relative is looking to buy a car and holds 3 years NCD which lapsed over 2 years ago (has had two other vehicles insured within the past two years but sold/cancelled policy before renewal date) so is struggling to find insurers that will accept this.

Does anyone know of anyone (other than Adrian Flux) that would accept NCD proof over 2yrs old please?

Did he use the 3 years NCD on those policies? If so, ask the most recent one for proof of NCD.

Thank you, just spoke with one of their online reps and they accept NCD up to 3 years, so great news :)

The most recent one was on a van policy, hence having to switch before completing the 4th year of the car insurance. But the van was sold before the policy expired so never earned any NCD either.
  • Another option is to go back to his last insurers, they will sometimes also accept no claims discount for up to 3 years too. Good luck!

Having contacted his previous insurers it seems the NCD was still valid anyway as it's less than a year since he last held that policy. All he has lost out on is an additional 2 years NCD due to switching/ending policies before they completed a full year.

He's actually been driving continuously for 6 years but only has 3 years NCD due to that, plus being a named driver on another policy for the past 10mths.
  • All least that has resolved with some no claims bonus intact! Glad to hear it Feral Moon!
