help needed

Hi all, I would really appreciate a little help with my situation please, just so I can get things straight in my head.
I work part time 5 hours a week, hubby works full time. I earn approx. £1600 a year and hubby earns £24,980 a year. We have 3 children.
At the moment we get child tax credit which amounts to £118 per week.
I have just got myself a job which starts on January 5th, this is part time until July and then will go full time hopefully (in school job, fixed term until July) I do intend to give up my original part time job (the one which pays £1600 per year, but unsure of when I will do that yet, as waiting to see how all the hours fit in together.
This new job pays £6687.33 per annum (approx. £128 per week) so in effect I will be earning this on top of current job, unless the hours don't fit well, then I will give up original job.....this is a time will tell thing, plus as I work for a cleaning company we have just lost contracts so that income will be reduced greatly anyway, and may go to £0 :-(

Right here we go.....
Firstly, Do I have to ring tax credits immediately about the new job? or do I wait until April, as our income will not rise by the threshold, or does this not count as its a new job.
Should I ring as soon as the job starts in January?
Obviously I don't want an overpayment, but at the same time I want to make sure I do things correctly, I have been on entitled to, to try and work things out, on there it states that so long as my hours don't reduce I don't have to report immediately, but that come April I would then get an overpayment based on my new income. Our income would not increase by £5000 from last year.

So do I report now, so changes take effect straight away, or do I report for the start of the new tax year
A little confusing I know.
And I just want to add that yes I know I could work full time to boost our income, but 2 issues here, firstly the new job although only part time to begin with has long term prospects, and because I suffer with arthritis it will also ease me in to a world of full time work.

I am really excited about a new year and a new start, just want to make sure I do things by the book.
Also is there any way to work this out via a calculator online, showing all jobs I worked......entitled 2 was acting stupid and ended up telling me I would get some council tax help which I know is wrong.

I am sorry if its all a little confusing, but thought if I told the whole story it may give a bit more insight into the person reading our situation.

Thanks in advance
