  • Good Morning everyone we actually have milky sky and sunshine this morning with a light breeze. DD1 is in the shower and then we're heading townwards on the bus for a few bits we couldn't find in W8rose yesterday. Had a lovely time last night as the church choir were singing carols in the pub that Cookies owners run and we went along to listen, they weren't half bad either. They collected for the Air Ambulance which is one of the things I feel passionate about, I think it's a wonderful asset and want to keep it flying for as long as we can so we were happy to give donations. Nice easy food today i.e Cheese on toast for lunch but with apple slices under the cheese and a steak and mushroom casserole for supper and then tomorrow a good house clean, do the last bit of ironing, make fresh rolls for Christmas Day, and all the finishing jobs so we can just enjoy Christmas and not have to pfaff about too much.

Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

Hubby went to bed sulking last night cause I spent an hour with my neighbour....Yes he is male and yes he's always had a soft spot for me but it doesn't mean I'm going to jump into bed with him does it? Perish the thought, he ain't my type. I reminded him if he had gone round like I'd asked. I wouldn't have felt the need.

Youngest was on taxi duty last night for his sister who was hammered after finishing work for Christmas. She made a right fool of herself apparently. This is the daughter who tells me not to drink when I'm out because I make a right fool of myself. She is more like her Dad than she cares to admit.

Just wrapping to do today and I might delegate that job to hubby since he's lost the use of his legs.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

I'm expecting my DD's with their offspring soon, I've dropped hubby at work and then on to the shops, hubby needed more deodorant, they had lots of cake cases and sprinkles reduced so I stocked up on those.
I've laid out bowls of fruit ready for the DGC so they can snack if they want to, they get excited when they are all together so won't sit down for a meal.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hilstep200 I knew of a funeral last year that took place on Christmas Eve for goodness sakes  I could not believe it when I heard it I was totally stunned, but the husband wanted it over and done with before Christmas and not leave it until the 28th December :(

TravellingA - what a nightmare for you I can't understand how pharmacies can mess up prescriptions but they do! They are supposed to be double checked before dispensary!

Today for the first time ever, ever, ever I have washing out on the line two days before Christmas - I cannot believe it! In all my years I have never had washing out at this time of year and getting it dry as well! Normally it been on the clothes horse or in the tumble dryer! Anyway, it is in the sunshine (as low as it is in the sky) and it is whirling around on the line in this strong wind.

Tomorrow I am off to the hairdressers - last few years I do this as a treat to myself! Then we shall have a hopefully quiet time! Just need to vac through today but I shall do that while the spaniel is at the dog groomers! Even she gets a wash and cut for Christmas :D
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

    Morning everyone.

I was woken at 6.30a.m by thunder and lightning which just added to the lovely mix of torrential rain and blustery gale-type winds. I shut off the wifi / broadband in case the lightning hit the telephone wires - last year it literally blew up the router and then broke three more replacements. This year I bought another spare from Amazing and have it ready.

I've been into town and bought a few bits and bobs like nails and a hall 'welcome' type mat. Got my parcel off too. The washing is now finished so I'll get that on the airers upstairs with the dehumidifier blasting away.

Plans for Christmas seem fluid - if the weather continues to be so stormy then I'll stay here and go down at New Year instead. The loch (sea loch) was full of white horses which were sometimes coming over the shoreline in town. Here it's just as bad, the sky went pitch black, hard rain fell for twenty minutes and then the sun shone for five.

I hope everyone is snug and warm and that coughs, colds and sneezes are making their way out!

    Happy Christmas Eve Eve.

Merry Christmas to you too Marie.

I have just put some washing outside and have some more whirring away. Finally got round to phoning our insurance company telling them I was moving in the next couple of months and renewing it but putting it on direct debit inste.ad of having a big annual bill upfront.

DD was going to come over here this morning but no sign yet so I will make a start on the lasagne for tonight and that will be something done.

Still have not heard if my increased offer has been accepted or not on the bungalow.

    Hugs to all

  • :santa2: Good afternoon everyone,

Hugs to everyone, we're almost there!!:j

Its a lovely sunny day here in Kent, and I have a load of washing on the line as well. Just going to put some more on in a minute.

DH is out working not sure when he will be home, DS is working at the pub until finish tonight and DD has gone out with friends. I have been out and bought the last of their presents, so just have to wrap it all now. I'm not buying anything else, just a couple of birthday cards to get.

I also need to get a card from my Mum to give the children as she gave me money to buy them their pressies, and I have gone and booked us all up to the Harry Potter studio tour in the February half term, so I hope they will be excited about that.

I'm going to marzipan my cake first and then may wash my car, as its filthy, before doing any wrapping.

I have decided to give the house a good clean tomorrow and then prep for Christmas day tomorrow.

Thinking of all who are feeling poorly or have family sadness to contend with at this time of year.

  • Afternoon all,

Busy, busy, busy.... It's amazing how every year I think I don't really have much to do especially now all the kids are adults, pity it doesn't really work out like that.

All the presents are wrapped. DD and her husband came for the day yesterday. They want to spend their first married Christmas day alone as they are now trying for a baby and it may be the only one they get for a long time. His family is in Ireland and although they have been together for about 8 years, this will be only the second Christmas they have spent together.

DS1 is coming down tomorrow. He was coming this evening after work but said that he changed his mind as he doesn't fancy the drive after a day at work. Don't blame him. His partner has gone to his parents for the weekend.

FIL is home from hospital now and is much better. Still is a lazy sod but nothing changes...

Have a good Christmas Eve and if I don't make it back - HAPPY CHRISTMAS ALL :)

My late lovely Mum died on 14 December and was buried on Christmas Eve 1962 which was also her birthday, and as I was newly married for a long time I hated Christmas, and rarely celebrated it much, until the children came along and my OH said "Come on now the kids need to have good memories".
I still remember my Mum all these years later, and also my lovely Oh who too has passed on 12 years ago, and we always raise a glass on Christmas Day to absent friends and family at lunchtime. You can't change what's happened, but learn to live with it, and remember the good times if you can.

Today I took my DGS Henry (14) to the local bank as he wanted to start an account for his paper round money. He has been very lucky with his tips this year and his customers all have treated him very kindly. Out 7 mornings a week, all weathers bless him, he has had over £75 in tips so he sensibly wanted to have his own account. The chap in Barclays was very impressed with his questions and said what a bright young man he was .:j

Am now relaxing with coffee as I was glad to get back to their house the traffic was mental on the roads. So glad I have no shopping to queue up for, and tomorrow is just cooking umpteen sausage rolls and mince pies, then feet up in the afternoon, and off to eldest DDs in the evening, and we are going out to dinner at an Italian restaurant. My favourite sort of food :):)

Hope you all have a good day, its dry here, but the wind is a bit on the chilly side.

My thoughts are with those who are finding it a bit hard at the moment , an emotional time for a lot of people

    JackieO xx
