    If he can do it my way (see 1 post above) then he doesn't need to provide any info, he just gets the funds into the UK in a normal way without having to go through hassles.

    Depositing £20k or €20k to a bank will result in a lot of questions being asked especially if it has come from abroad.
    Hope you have a paper trail for the money.

    Are you sure? I deposited before 20k and they just asked me where I got them from without requesting any paperwork (which I already have fyi)

    If they believe you then its fine and dandy but they could ask you to prove where the money has come from - today with digital banking the obvious question you will probably be asked is why carry that amount of cash when you could have had it transferred securely online?
    I take it the bank was NOT Hsbc?
