Hi,
I'm getting quotes but one of the questions they ask is if my car has an alarm and if it's Thatcham approved, I have no idea. I was hoping someone could help, my car is a 2005 Vauxhull Corsa life, petrol, manual, 5 door.

I doubt anyone here can tell you for certain. Surely you know if it has an alarm?


Take it to a Vauxhall garage?


There is usually an option for factory or manufacturer fitted.


If in doubt, answer 'no'.

Would suggest not but you may have an after market one fitted.

Just select factory fitted if your unsure. If you tick yes thatcham they may ask for the certificate.

I can't imagine the risk of theft accounts for a large percentage of the premium on a 10 year old Corsa, so it's not likely to make a big difference to your premium. OTOH claiming that you have a better alarm than you actually do could cause you problems if you make a claim - even if it's only a very small difference in premium. So if in doubt, answer "no".
