Hi,

I primarily use my Amex Platinum Charge card for all purchases as i get the points and pay no interest.

My question is with the protection that you get by using a credit card. Does the same apply to the Amex Charge Cards? i.e. - are Amex liable in certain circumstances as say Barclay Card would be for payments over £100 like if the company went bust, or goods weren't delivered etc...

Don't believe so as you haven't entered a credit agreement which is what section 75 is about. So protection isn't based on the fact that you've used a credit card, it was an unintended consequence of legislation which protected people taking out loans and similar credit arrangements.

No there is no section 75 protection for charge card purchases. Amex do provide their own purchase protection voluntarily which covers some of the things S75 does, it varies by card so read your T&Cs.

You still have chargeback though, which would cover the common non-delivery and not-as-described issues.
