I ditched it some years ago, without any consequences. Which is one of the recommendations in that article.0

That's been common knowledge (amongst IT security people) for years. I could never understand why users weren't at least prompted to uninstall old versions. Fortunately Java is looking pretty dead. I haven't used it for years.0
