I don't see a thread for new car purchases.
I am looking at buying a new car.
Does anyone here work for a dealership? Would they be willing to tell me the mark up on the vehicles, what I am best haggling for, what can be thrown in for free etc.
Many thanks

Mark up is usually 25%. If you buy on NYE, they'll knock off 24% of that markup and sell you the new vehicle for 1% above cost just to make their targets.0

So waiting until NYE is due to yearly targets, etc?0

Only works if they are three cars off their target. If they are 300 off, then you'll be expected to buy a lot more than one car.penguin_zoo wrote: »So waiting until NYE is due to yearly targets, etc?0 -

And you have to be there before three other people buy their cars at a hugely reduced rate.
Basically - buy a car you can afford and you think is worth the amount you are paying for it. If you think it's too expensive, don't buy it.
Nobody can tell you how much a car is marked up and what you could get for free, it depends on the salesman and how much he wants the sale.0 -
Just using google search should find the new car much cheaper than you can get locally, even if you don't want to buy the car using this method it should give you a ball park figure to start negotiations with your local dealer.
A lot of people seem to change their cars around Xmas/new year so not sure if it's a good time to buy?0
