Easy starter for Christmas dinner?

I'm cooking Christmas dinner this year for 8 people. We are having a turkey crown with all the usual trimmings but I can't decide what to do for a starter.
None of the guests will eat anything remotely fishy. I'm not the best cook in the world but do a fab roast so it's only the starter that's a worry.
Please can anyone recommend a starter that's quick, easy and faff-free?
Thanks!

I usually have stuffed mushrooms and OH has crackers or oatcakes and pate.0

Soup is a pretty standard compromise for guests though..0

Do you need a starter? They might love you more for leaving more room for their main course!0

Definitely need a starter because we all take turns to do the Christmas dinner and every single time there is a starter served.
So I'd be letting the side down badly if I didn't bother doing one.0 -
I don't get having a starter for Christmas dinner! The meal is filling enough and remember there's always desert!
The only starter I've had before a Christmas meal was stuffed mushrooms. But things like melon work well.
Don't make it too big either and don't forget the After Eights for after the main meal0 -
What about a big plate of anti pasti that everyone can pick from ?
Melon, parma ham, salami, olives etc etc ?
Or just do melon & parma ham
Or tomato & mozzarella cheese with fresh basil & drizzle of olive oil - the tomatoes must be ripe & serve at room temperature not chilled.

There is only one starter that is traditional for Christmas dinner, and that is..
A selection box and booze of choice0 -
Pate and melba toasts are easy for a starter0
-
Tempura prawns on a small bed of salad with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce.0
