HP Support Assistant Stopped Working Help

So today I get a big red exclamation on my HP symbol Windows 10.

Tells me it has a major fault Windows say they will let me know when a fix is available, I Google to get a fix. Tells me to uninstall. So I follow the instructions(I am told to uninstall and then reinstall again from start), but then the problems start.

I get a Error 1714 The Old Version cannot be removed!!!

Contact the support group.

Tells me the file does not exist for me to uninstall. I can see it in the list though.

Can someone help with simple instructions. I did try the install over the top of the old file which it did tell me to do. But the message above appears.

I've never trusted my HP support assistant in Vista so uninstalled it. I find 3rd party programs better. If the file is a driver use Driver Booster free to scan and update any drivers http://driver-booster-free.en.softonic.com/ . It's also worth running Glary Utilities also free and safe http://www.glarysoft.com/glary-utilities/download/

The damn thing is back to normal today!!

Every so often it does a scan thing rarely tells me to allow something. So its not really the end of the universe if it does go down.
