False Pretenses
Hi
I went to a dealership to purchase a car i had seen on their website, i had already called head office to make sure the car could be brought to hull they assured me it could when i went to my local branch in hull they told the car i wanted had been sold, They then asked me to see if they're was any others i liked on the pretense that the one i wanted had been sold i chose another one of which was £1500.00 more expensive when they told me the car had gone and i was waiting for the figures for the new one i went on there website so the car and hit reserve i didn't think i would receive an email later on that day saying the car was available i have since contact them o 3 occasions and still not heard anything from them. Can anything be done. Thanks

As no money has changed hands, you haven't been defrauded, however, I would not go near such a company, even if they did have the car you wanted. Look elsewhere.
So the first thing you do is take your trade elsewhere so they do not benefit from your sale.
The other thing you can do is complain to Trading Standards. It sounds like a classic "bait and switch" where you offer cars at a very attractive price but when you try and buy them they are not available and you are offered a more expensive alternative. The chances are they will not do much on one complaint as the effort to investigate is quite high, but if they get a series of complaints about the same company then they will have the evidence to act, so I would say always complain. You can also complain to ASA (Advertising Standards) who also cover company websites as well as obvious advertising.
If you do nothing, the next person gets the same treatment. Who knows whether you have already been saved by someone else's complaint about another company? We are all in this together.0 -
No. Nothing can be done. They don't have to sell you the car.0

MSE says give new posters a chance.
The only thing is all the new posters of late appear to be trolls.0 -
You've not been defrauded as no money has changed hands.
If you don't want to pay the extra 1.5k for the other car, then walk away.
Unless the car is particularly rare/the spec is extremely unusual you should be able to find the same thing elsewhere, you don't have to buy from that dealer exclusively.0 -

Cars sell and websites arent updated instantly.
You cant "make" them sell you a car that they have or dont have.
If you think you're being duped, walk away.0 -
The car was sold or the dont want to transfer it to your location and the website has not been updated and may not be updated anytime soon.
Unless its a specialist vehicle its probably best to buy locally.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
