We have finally decided on beef--it was either that or lamb. That will be with goose fat roasted potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips, and good ol` sprouts!:xmassmile

Nothing, I've never had to cook dinner.

But it's turkey all the way for me .... turkey, turkey, turkey.

We've had a fab nut loaf for the last 20 years too .... a good one, for me, means I don't notice if there's no meat at all.

We'll be having goose (I'm German) and since I took over cooking christmas dinner the family has been instantly converted. So Goose every year, plus a ham on the side and the usual trimmings, roast veg and tatties, sprouts (usually now shredded and fried with shallots and bacon), pigs in blankets, sometimes croquets, and boiled tatties. Tried homemade red cabbage once, I really liked it but ate it by myself, so that got dropped.

  • We have lamb as it's our favourite meat. Turkey is the most bland boring think you can eat so why have it at a time of celebration?

Agree, wonder how and why it replaced Goose. Or did it? Is this part of the Americanisation. Is it just because it is bigger and can feed more mouths? Does anybody know?

Pork with stuffing, roast parsnips, roast leeks, carrots, sprouts, savoy cabbage, romanesco, mashed potatoes & roast potatoes cooked in beef dripping.

I'm hoping the veg will offset the cholesterol of the other stuff. :rotfl:

Is beef dropping a delicacy round your way then?:D
  • If it's a good quality turkey and cooked well ie not dried out I love it! Ideally I'd do roast beef but I like it rare and father in law has it good until it's tough as old leather!
