Do I need planning permission to fill in a car port?

I am thinking of buying a house with an integrated car port.
I would like to "fill this in" to turn the space of the car port into additional ground floor living space. Would this be within permitted development? I have looked far and wide on the internet and I can find only find information about converting garages. I am also not sure if it makes any difference that this car port has an open rear.
Picture below if that helps:

Nice!
You could do quick talk to local council.
Probably will only req building control to ensure up to spec etc
Is this the only way to the rear? thinking bins, garden sheds and all other junk people put in rear gardens. LOLThe world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
interesting setup, looks like its not part of the original house which makes it a strange extension. Also look at the nice big lintel next door has, im guessing yours has steelwork in there somewhere.0
