changing current account and keeping regular saver

Hi,

I'd like to change bank for my current account (from hsbc to first direct).
However I have a regular saver at hsbc that I'd like to keep until the end of the financial year. I wonder wether transferring my current account to another bank will close my regular saver or wether I can have my regular saver at hsbc with no current account within this bank and my account fully transfered to first direct.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Best regards,

Elodie

The answer is no, but don't take my word for it...check out your HSBC Personal Banking T&Cs (page 16).

Unless you're specifically moving for the switching incentive you'll have to open FD, switch manually, and close HSBC later.
  • The only thing that might work in your favour is that First Direct is actually part of HSBC so it might be worth asking if your saver can be linked to your First Direct account.

You are right, you can ask, but the answer will be no.
  • I advise end the HSBC Regular Saver before you switch your bank account to First Direct. Otherwise you might not get a high interest. See your terms and conditions for this detail.

I have a First Direct Bank Account and think they are excellent. They have a 6 percent interest Regular Saver which you pay up to £300 a month into.

You probably meant complete the HSBC Regular Saver - in other words wait till it matures. Ending the account prematurely would result in loss of interest.
