Are my no claims bonus safe?

Hi, i have 1 years no claims bonus and would have had 2 years (at the start of january) but i had a crash in august. Im still waiting on the outcome of who's fault it will be, but just looking in the long run here and the worst case scenario...
If the crash is deemed my fault, i know i will loose that years no claims bonus but what will happen to the 1 year i earned the earlier year? I dont remeber 'securing' these no claims bonus when i took out my new policy...
Thanks.. Joseph

You can't normally protect NCD until it's at the maximum.
A fault claim will normally see you lose two years' NCD. You need to read your insurer's policy booklet on fault claims and how they affect NCD.I am a mortgage broker. Usually you need 4 years plus to protect your no claims.
You will lose all your no claims not just the current years worth.
When your over 5 years no claims they will only deduct 2 or 3 years, but they tend to consider 5 as the max when deducting them.
Have 5 years no claims and claim your down to 3 years, have 20 years and have a claim your down to 3.
Check the insurers terms though.
With just 1 year a claim will wipe it out.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
