Won an EBay appeal but still haven’t received my refund.

I lost an item not received case despite providing tracking information and then opened an appeal that was closed in my favour an hour later; however when I lost the case Ebay refunded the buyer from my paypal balance and then promised that they would return it when I won the appeal but still, now two weeks later, they haven’t done so.

It’s been two weeks now and after calling them twice the usually extremely rude and difficult to understand “appeal finance expert” tells me that the money should be in my account and basically accuses me of lying when I tell them that the money hasn’t been returned to my PayPal or my bank.

I called Paypal about this and they tell me that Ebay haven’t told them I won the appeal and so I went back to Ebay who gave me a reference to give to paypal, but Paypal now says that they can’t issue a refund until Ebay does.

So right now I am extremely confused and £45, the original item’s price and paypal, fees down.

I’d really appreciate some advice.

Thanks,

Rachael x

  • Nobody? :(
  • If Paypal can't refund until ebay give the refund you need to talk to ebay. Can Paypal give you a reference or can you now use that reference with ebay to get somewhere?

I'm not sure there's much else you can do other than keep contacting them until you get an answer.

You could try posting on their twitter or facebook page to see if that gets a response.
  • My experience with eBay customer support is that you get someone who doesn't know what they're talking about 50% of the time, someone rude or unhelpful 25% of the time, and someone who is very knowledgeable and reasonable 25% of the time.

Keep calling every few days to try and get this resolved. If your appeal won, you should get your money. If they claim you have it, ask for a PayPal Transaction ID proving you got it. I would say though, there is a small chance that someone somewhere made a mistake and getting your money may be extremely difficult or impossible. I've had instances where for technical reasons or lack of understanding, it was simply too difficult to get the result I wanted and I just took the loss.
