  • Having installed Bitdefender earlier today, it just finished a "deep scan".

It quarantined 2 suspect files, one of which caused IE to forget my home page and refuse to re-remember it until I rebooted. I suspect they were false positives.

Which probably shows that Microsoft Essentials was doing just fine all along.

An alternative hypothesis could be that MSE missed something that Bitdefender didn't. From the evidence presented earlier there is a much higher probability given MSE missed almost 15% of malware samples however scored zero false positives.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

Before Bitdefender I was using 360 Total Security with the extra engines turned on.......
I dropped it when the news of their dodgy test results came out.

The actual test results were fine. The problem appears to be that the programme offered to the public does not have the Bitdefender engine switched on by default and Qihoo presented 360 for testing with the Bitdefender engine activated.

A bit naughty perhaps but it doesn’t detract from the fact that, from a purely performance point of view, 360 Total Security is a pretty impressive piece of kit.

It did cast suspicion over the whole thing, but I have not ruled out going back to it.
It was fully featured and did have a lot of customisations available, ideal for the tinkerer. :D
    Move along, nothing to see.
