carrier bag charge for packaged raw meat
Comments

Every week I go to Asda when we get to the packaged sausages, chicken and mince the checkout assistant always puts them in a carrier bag and doesn't charge as it is raw meat ( their words not mine) all my other shopping goes into the bags that I take with me.0

Why would you buy a meat package that was leaking? That would mean it was not properly sealed and the meat could already be deteriorating.
It happens quite often with the meat prepared instore as opposed to the prepackaged stuff in the aisles, it is placed on a polystyrene tray and then a piece of cling film over the top. I've often picked up a tray and noticed some blood seeping through the bottom. Seen it in Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's.Every week I go to Asda when we get to the packaged sausages, chicken and mince the checkout assistant always puts them in a carrier bag and doesn't charge as it is raw meat ( their words not mine) all my other shopping goes into the bags that I take with me.
Same here, I've only had to ask once in a Morrisons and the cashier apologised for not asking and saying it was her first week on the tills. Sometimes they even put prepackaged meat into bags which I wouldn't really ask for, I think that meat is completely impervious to leaking.====0 -

Morrisons today the checkout lady automatically put all packaged raw meat into a free carrier bag without being asked or any discussion around it.0

Given how busy the supermarkets are at the moment I'd imagine she just wanted to help you get through the checkout as quickly as possible.0

not raw meat but those little deli salad pots you fill yourself which pop open easily!
Morrisons - free little bag for them
Sainsburys - No you can't have a bag for them unless you buy a regular size carrierthe lady serving us even commented on how it doesn't want to stay shut that one
