I want vehicle breakdown cover from Adrian flux but ...

I recently got campervan insurance from Adrian Flux for my 89vw. They were enthusiastic to get me to join them. What they are not enthusiastic about is giving breakdown cover. They have an excelent deel which I can't get close to beating (for full cover including Europe) which I only recently new about. You have to apply within 14 days of getting their vehicle insurance. It's 4 weeks since I got their insurance and they stubbornly refuse to offer me their breakdown cover no matter how nicely I ask them, but then I do not have a seductive voice. Is there anything I can do to get them to include me for breakdown cover? I do not know for example if I simply cancel my vehicle insurance policy then reapply for it again immediately after with the breakdown cover included? Thanks for your attention.

If you had to buy it within 14 days of buying the policy then that window looks closed.


If the offer is still on they will happily let you cancel your policy (and pay the charges involved with cancelling!) and buy a new one.


Do check this is a cost effective exercise by getting the full cost of cancelling from them before deciding!

The cost of cancelling your insurance maybe more than it costs to take out cover elsewhere.

Adrain Flux were great for us with a self-build camper van. I wouldn't want to upset them though, particularly as they will insure where nobody else will, which means you have nowhere else to go if the relationship breaks down.

We, in common with many campers and caravanners, use ADAC for breakdown cover. They are a German mutual club (owned by their members)

You need to research it to see if it suits your needs, but they have a lot of support in the UK, particularly for people who travel to Europe.

A second vote for ADAC (we're also motorhomers) - though we've never had to call on them.

Note that the ADAC policy covers you (and partner if you go for the Plus service) not the vehicle, so it covers all the vehicles in the family.
