How do I cancel tax credits?

Currently receiving working and child tax credits but I just want to cancel them completely. How can I go about this? I've looked online and can't seem to find out.

Thanks

keep it and when they find out, say you cant afford to pay it back in one go, so pays like 12 pound a week direct debit.
treat it as a loan,,they wont mind.
    that what i did :D
:mad:the goverment added a new tax on protein shakes
    20 percent so i pay extra 4 pound a go, on a tub:mad:

When they find out what? Not sure what you mean treat it as a loan? I'm entitled to it but just don't want it anymore and all the hassle of every little change that needs to be reported for the sake of £30 a week! I'd rather look for another job to cover the £30 a week.

ignoring the previous reply, i don't understand how you only get £30 a week if you get both wtc and ctc.

a single person has to earn no more than 13k a year and a couple no more than 18k a year to get wtc. so if you are on this low an income your ctc should be higher when the cut off is 26k for 1 child?

One thing to be aware of is that you will still need to complete the renewal when it comes to you in June time. It serves the purpose of ensuring that the payments you received the previous year were correct for the income. If you do not return it, all payments will be required to be repaid

Don't think you can withdraw until the end of the year.

You would still need to complete renewal in next year to finalise the claim but if you didn't you wouldn't need to repay everything as said above (it's only anything paid from April next year which wouldn't apply to you).

There is getting overpaid and not realising anything, Then there is getting over paid and known you are overpaid, This is called FRAUD.

Just used this figure as an example sorry to confuse.

So do I notify them before the end of this tax year or the day the new tax year starts? I don't wish to claim any kind of tax credits - you'd think they would make it plain and simple to cancel a claim?

Call them and they'll tell you about the process. Depends on your specific claim.

Looks like I'm going to have to. Was wondering if anyone had been through the process and if it's as easy as cancelling a direct debit!
