If there was a clearly advertised condition explicitly saying 'no more than two Sunday Times and two free coffees per person', would you consider people taking two to be greedy or cheeky?
I think you should try running a business and let people have unlimited free samples of your stock, and then tell us how you like it.0 -

I don't think big businesses are bothered. They are big enough to suck it up. They decide on the rules eh.If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0 -

There's a lot of judgement regarding other people's finances going on here. I like these forums because that kind of thing is rare. My belief is that, if a bank decides to introduce a loss-leading product or policy for the sake of long-term business, then people who are clued up and "take advantage" of the situation are smart and deserve the gains they make. If you think doing so is greedy then fine, don't do it, that's your business. It's not often you see people's sympathy for banks trumping their own legitimate financial gains, but good on you if that's your stance, I guess.
It's like someone said on another thread the other day, that only those who bother to spend time researching (rather than getting Martin's emails or some such) "deserve" to benefit from what they uncover. There seems to be a complete misunderstanding of how loss-leading economics works going on around these parts. If the banks find the losses aren't worth it then don't worry, they'll change the policies in a heartbeat.0 -

The process is you put something out for free, thinking people will show some restraint, and then once you are horrified by the unlimited greed, decide to place limits on your generosity.
The reason that there are limits, is precisely because there are "rude" people out there.
My tour guide in Japan recently remarked, unlike some countries, the toilets always have plenty of toilet paper: and they do. Hint hint.

Have a look at posts 6, 7 and 8. All I said was I wouldn't do it, but they had to drag it out of me.
I suspect vegetarians don't approve of my eating meat, and quite possibly feel queasy seeing me do so, but I don't insist they reveal what they think, and then slag them off for saying so.
The banks have wisely put a limit on what they allow, and I have no intention to help them either way.0 -
If Tesco offered an account that produced 6% but let you open only one, would you decline that on the same basis?0

Are you saying that people who have opinions that you disagree with have to apologise for having them? Are you saying that people who, in 100% compliance with the Tesco T&Cs, have two Tesco current accounts and a 0% Tesco credit card are greedy pigs and unattractive? If so, you have an awful lot of apologising to do to an awful lot of people. Not even wrong0
