Hi Folks
I have £500k knocking around following the sale of a house. I will need relatively unhindered access to £400k of that In case something else pops up but what do you recommend to max my return without risk?
Cheers

Put the £400K into National Savings Income Bonds, the only realistic option for temporarily holding large sums way above the FSCS protection limits.
For the other £100K, if you genuinely mean investing rather than saving, i.e. a long-term 10+ years plan, then passive funds are generally seen as a low-maintenance choice with various options according to your appetite for risk. Or you could open up a range of current accounts that don't involve capital risk and offer decent interest rates, but only on capped amounts of money, see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5374614. These will only take you to something like £57K (more if you have a partner) with a fair amount of effort, you may find it easier to just put the £100K into the same National Savings account as the rest....0 -
